From the streets of Pitori — a word, a chant, a way of life.
Magudzumela is not a new word. It has lived in the kasi slang of Pretoria's townships — Pitori kasi slang — long before it became a movement. In the old definition, it described someone of extreme, dangerous resilience. The kind of person who endures anything. The streets used it hard.
And Haaks — that is a chant. A command. It means: jump up. Move. Take action right now. Not tomorrow. Not when you feel ready. Now.
Put them together and you have something that cannot be translated neatly. You have a philosophy. A rallying cry for everyone who wakes up with nothing guaranteed and still shows up.
Mpho Sfubanation is a content creator, philanthropist, and community builder from the streets of Pretoria. He did not invent the word Magudzumela — but he changed what it means.
He saw what poverty and unemployment were doing to people in the townships — the depression, the hopelessness, the wasted mornings. His response was not a speech. It was a chant. "Haaaaks!" Get up. Time is your most valuable asset. Staying in bed is how depression wins.
He took a raw street word with heavy connotations and rebuilt it — into a motivational lifestyle movement. The honest hustler. The informal trader. The person working long hours without a corporate pay slip. That is who Magudzumela belongs to.
"The goal is simple — build something that works for every South African, regardless of language, literacy, or where you come from. If you hustle, you belong here."
— Mpho Sfubanation
Under the Magudzumela banner, the movement has formalised into a full organisation — with events, programmes, and a community platform that reaches hundreds of thousands of South Africans.
Street entrepreneurs, informal traders, and anyone working long hours without a corporate pay slip. Magudzumela sees you, celebrates you, and builds with you.
Magudzumela Men's Conferences — localized gatherings focused on networking, fighting poverty, and breaking the stigma around mental health struggles for township men.
Business starter packs and platforms for aspiring women entrepreneurs. Because lifting the community means lifting everyone — not just the guys.
Social markets, winter jacket donation drives, networking events, and community gatherings — Magudzumela shows up. That is not a brand promise. That is a track record.
Every Monday, real guys sit down for real talk — life, hustle, mental health, family, growth. No scripts. No cameras rolling for content. Just men being honest with each other in a space that was built for exactly that.
It started as a gathering at Bloem Lifestyle, Pretoria. It became a movement of its own — replicated in communities across the country because the need was everywhere.
If you are a guy going through something — come through. No invite needed. Just show up.
Every Monday — Learn MoreApparel, events, social markets, Majita Monday — the gallery captures it all.
